2025 – Many Small Steps That Made a Big Difference
2025 was a somewhat quieter year for us. Instead of taking on one major construction project, we focused on many smaller initiatives that allowed us to provide practical support to people and organisations on the ground.
We carried out minor renovation work, distributed food donations, provided clothing for the MusaweNkosi orphanage and organised our annual St. Nicholas campaign. We also built a new climbing frame for the Mandosi kindergarten and continued to fund the salaries of the teachers at the Rainbow School.
Why didn’t we take on a major construction project in 2025?
Our work at Colours for Kids is entirely voluntary. Karin van Rooyen plays a particularly important role in making our projects possible. She coordinates and implements our projects locally in South Africa, oversees construction work, obtains quotes, organises building materials and makes sure that our support reaches exactly where it is needed. This allows 100% of all donations to go directly towards our projects.
In 2025, Karin had significant family responsibilities as her mother was seriously ill. For us, it was only natural to be considerate of her situation and give her and her family the time and space they needed during this difficult period.
Even without a major construction project, we achieved a great deal in 2025 and continued to support our existing projects. We looked back on the year with gratitude – and now look ahead with confidence to everything that lies ahead.
