Asibuyeni Primary School – Finishing 2024
Frank’s Heaven is ready to go again!
After a severe storm destroyed the roof of one of our school buildings, it was clear that something urgently needed to be done. Three classrooms were left exposed to the elements and could no longer be properly used. Now, the renovation is complete – and the results are impressive!
What did we do?
- A new roof was built to protect the classrooms from the weather.
- All three classrooms were repaired, freshly painted and newly equipped.
- Doors and windows were installed, providing more light, safety and protection.
The children and teachers can now fully use the classrooms again and have a safe and welcoming place to learn.
A huge thank you goes to Karin van Rooyen and her team, who made all of this possible on site.
Take a look at the photos and see for yourself how much has changed. Frank’s Heaven is ready for many more lessons and lots of smiling children!
This project was carried out by Colours for Kids e. V. using donations from “Frank’s Heaven”.
Rainbow School – Finishing 2024
A Room for the Future: Completion of the Rainbow School’s New Classroom
Sometimes, all it takes is a vision and many helping hands to make a big difference. Our latest project for the Rainbow School is complete – and it is much more than just a building. It is a place where children can grow, learn and dream.
It all began in September 2023, when the first foundations were laid. Thanks to the dedicated support of our team on site, we were able to complete the construction project in record time. By Christmas, the classroom was ready, and by January 2024, the interior work and a separate toilet facility had also been completed.
With the new classroom, around 70 children – from kindergarten, preschool and first grade – can now be taught and cared for at the same time. This is not only an important milestone for the Rainbow School, but also a step towards a brighter future for the children.
But a classroom alone does not provide an education. That is why we have also employed teachers and support staff and ensure that they receive their salaries on a regular basis.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this project possible – whether through donations, hands-on support on site or encouraging words. Every contribution has helped to make a real difference.
Asibuyeni Primary School – Renovation of classroom complex
By chance, Karin met Dorise Hettlich from Germany from “Frank’s Heaven” in the winter of 23/24. Many years ago, together with her husband Frank, she built a building with three classrooms for the Asibuyeni Primary School. This building was severely damaged by a storm in 2019 and has been gutted ever since. Only the raw walls remained and the roof was completely covered. At the time, the government promised to take care of the renovation, but as is so often the case, nothing happened. At that time, Colors for Kids had built 2 new classrooms instead (see project 2020).
After Frank’s death, Dorise’s deepest wish was to rebuild the complex. Dorise was looking for someone to implement this project on site. Through contact with Karin, Dorise donated a very large sum to Colors for Kids e. V. We are now implementing Dorise’s wish and have already started renovating the building complex. Completion is expected by the end of February. A meeting with Dorise, Dorothee and Karin will take place on March 8th, which we are really looking forward to! Among other things, we will then talk about further joint projects in the future.
Thank you Karin for doing such a good job – Without you it wouldn’t have happened – I’m so much looking forward to meet you – you are very special! (Dorise Hettlich)
